Oxford's Zero Emission Zone and what it means for your clearance
Oxford launched Britain's first Zero Emission Zone on 28 February 2022, covering a small set of city centre streets including Cornmarket Street, Queen Street, New Inn Hall Street, Ship Street and St Michael's Street. Petrol and diesel vehicles, including hybrids, pay a daily charge if driven in the zone between 7am and 7pm, seven days a week.
If your office is inside or next to the pilot area, we plan loading from streets outside the zone where possible, or factor the daily charge into a fixed quote so there are no surprises. Businesses inside the zone can apply for a discount from Oxfordshire County Council, which is worth checking if you use contractors regularly.
Science, research and university-linked offices
A large share of Oxfordshire's offices sit in science and research parks, and many hold research data, patient data or commercially sensitive IP. For these clearances we treat every data-bearing device as high risk: drives are wiped or shredded, each asset is logged by serial number, and you get a certificate that your information governance team can file.
Lab-adjacent offices sometimes contain items we cannot take as general office waste, such as chemicals or clinical waste. We will flag these at the survey so they can be handled by a specialist before we start.

Pricing and planning from Hampshire
Oxford is the furthest of our core areas, so we survey first, agree a full inventory and send enough crew to finish efficiently. Price depends on volume, access, dismantling and how much certified destruction is needed, plus any ZEZ charge where it applies.
Listed buildings and narrow city centre streets
A lot of central Oxford offices are in listed or historic buildings, with narrow stairs, period features and lanes that vans cannot reach. In these buildings we protect stairs, doorways and floors before moving anything, dismantle larger furniture in the room, and carry to the nearest legal loading point. We never fix anything to walls or remove fittings without written approval from you and the landlord.
These constraints are the main reason Oxford clearances take longer per item than a modern business park. Pricing them correctly at survey stage avoids overruns, and we will tell you up front if a job is better split over two days.
What you receive at the end
Every Oxford clearance ends with Waste Transfer Notes for removed material, a certificate of destruction for confidential paper and a serial-level data destruction certificate for IT. Research and university-linked organisations often need these for funder audits or information governance reviews, so we send them as a single pack you can file straight away.
