Getting in and out of Portsmouth efficiently
Portsea Island has only a handful of road links, mainly the M275 and the A3(M)/A27, so timing matters more here than in most cities. We schedule loading outside the morning and evening peaks where we can, which keeps your crew working rather than queuing on the M275.
Portsmouth runs a Class B charging Clean Air Zone in the south west of the city. It only charges older buses, coaches, taxis, private hire vehicles and HGVs. Vans and cars are not charged, so there is no surcharge on a clearance in the city centre or around the Hard.
Areas and buildings we cover
We clear single rooms through to whole floors in office blocks, business parks and naval-adjacent supply chain sites. Common locations include:
- Lakeside North Harbour, Cosham
- Gunwharf Quays, the Hard and the city centre around Commercial Road
- Port Solent and Hilsea
- Fareham, Whiteley and Segensworth business parks
- Havant, Langstone Technology Park and Waterlooville
Defence, legal and financial offices
A lot of Portsmouth offices handle sensitive information, from defence suppliers to law firms and insurers. For these clearances the paper and IT streams matter more than the furniture. Paper goes into locked consoles that never leave our chain of custody, and is shredded to BS EN 15713. Hard drives are erased or physically destroyed, and you receive a certificate listing each serial number.
Our crews are DBS-checked and we operate under ISO 27001 for information security, which is usually what a security officer or data protection lead will ask to see before approving a contractor.
Pricing a Portsmouth clearance
Send room photos and a rough inventory for a same-day estimate. For larger jobs we survey on site and fix the price in writing. The main cost drivers are access (stairs, lifts, distance from loading), volume, dismantling of desks and partitions, and how much certified destruction is needed.
If the furniture is in good condition, reuse can offset part of the cost. We will tell you at the survey which items have resale or donation value.
Older buildings in Southsea and Old Portsmouth
Many smaller offices in Southsea, Old Portsmouth and around Kingston Road are in converted townhouses rather than purpose-built blocks. These often mean narrow staircases, no goods lift and parking that is a short carry from the front door. We survey these buildings first so we know which furniture has to be dismantled in the room, how many crew are needed to carry safely, and where the van can legally wait.
It also affects timing. A three-storey townhouse office can take longer to clear than a larger open-plan floor at Lakeside, simply because of the stairs. Pricing it properly at the start avoids the job overrunning or a second visit being needed.
Ferry, port and logistics offices
Offices linked to the International Port and the logistics firms around Hilsea and the Airport Industrial Estate often have mixed contents: desks and IT alongside racking, lockers and shipping paperwork. We clear these as one job, with racking and metal stripped for recycling and old shipping and customs records shredded under a certificate.
