Why being local matters for a Southampton clear-out
Most of the cost in a clearance is labour and vehicle time, not disposal. Because our vans start the day at Hardley, a Southampton job does not carry the travel time a firm coming down the M3 has to price in. That also means we can return the same week for a second load if your landlord adds items to the schedule, or hold a crew on standby for a tight lease end.
Southampton City Council chose not to introduce a charging Clean Air Zone, so there is no daily charge passed on to you for vehicles entering the city centre. The practical constraints are loading and access: city centre buildings around Above Bar, Ocean Village and the Western Docks area often have restricted loading bays or shared goods lifts, so we book those with your building manager before the day.
Where we work in and around the city
We regularly clear multi-tenant buildings in the city centre, business parks on the edge of the city and smaller serviced offices. Typical locations include:
- City centre offices around Above Bar, Bedford Place and the Cultural Quarter
- Ocean Village and waterfront offices
- Southampton Science Park at Chilworth and Adanac Park at Nursling
- Hedge End, Chandler's Ford, Eastleigh and Totton
- Waterside offices at Hythe, Fawley and Marchwood, closest to our base
What happens to what we remove
Usable furniture is set aside for reuse first. Desks, pedestal drawers, storage and good-condition chairs are refurbished or passed on before anything is broken down. What cannot be reused is separated by material: metal, timber, plastics and fabric go to different recyclers so that very little remains as general waste.
IT equipment goes to our sister company Premier IT Disposal, where drives are wiped or shredded and each asset is recorded by serial number. Filing cabinets full of paper are emptied into locked consoles and destroyed by Premier Shredding to BS EN 15713. You receive one set of paperwork covering all three streams, which is what most auditors and landlords ask for.
How to get an accurate price
The quickest way is to send photos of each room and a rough count of desks, chairs and cabinets. For anything over a couple of rooms we will visit, usually within two working days in Southampton, and give you a fixed written price. The things that change the price most are floor level and lift access, how much needs dismantling, whether any paper or IT needs certified destruction, and whether the work has to happen out of hours.
If you are leaving a lease, check your dilapidations schedule before booking. Some landlords want carpet tiles, partitions or cabling removed as well, and it is cheaper to do it in the same visit than to bring a crew back.
